Event Review: 10th Annual Businesswomen's Seminar & Expo Day

On Saturday 10 November, over 250 businesswomen gathered at the Australian Technology Park for the 10th Annual Businesswomen’s Seminar & Expo Day.

The day kicked off with guest speaker Tim Pethick from ?WhatIf!, and inspiring keynote speakers: Scott Farquhar from Atlassian, and Karaline Loiterton – The Wedding List Company, who set the pace for a positive learning experience, innovation and networking.

The energy did not stop there, women moved on to their choice of morning and afternoon workshops including Alison Rush – Google, Laurel Papworth – World Communities, Fred Schebesta – Freestyle Media, and Jennifer Lambeth – Out of Site Services, where they could learn about online marketing, sales, and improving the customer experience. Over a delicious lunch, and throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded women in business.

Exhibitor stands offered many women networking opportunities and a wealth of information on business ideas. Afternoon keynote speakers: James Stevens – Roses Only, and Amy Lyden – founder Bow Wow Meow, revealed how they harnessed new and emerging technologies to take their businesses to the top and shared innovation-focused strategies. The Expo motivated women in business to absorb and utilise inspirational insights from this wonderful day of innovation, networking, and hands-on learning.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Sponsors: Dynamic Business, Karibu and Department of State and Regional Development. Also a big thanks to all our Alliances, showbag, silent auction and doorprize donors.

Here's what some participants said:

The Expo was great – wonderful energy, great speakers....... Margaret Lomas was excellent choice for MC – she is smart, relaxed and as a successful business woman plus a mum with five kids - a great role model.

Venue was great and so was the food.

Thank you to everyone – I know it was a huge effort to co-ordinate everything and make it happen smoothly - it was a great success.   I think the Expo is a very important event and gives ABN strong credibility in the business sector.

Just a quick note to thank you for Saturday. I had a lovely time and, as I always do, learned some new things. On Saturday night I came up with some new business ideas, always a good sign!

I think you did a fantastic job.  The event truly was a success.

I just want to start by saying the conference was fantastic, I had to rave to my wife when I got home how motivating it was listening to all the great speakers throughout the day. I think I've convinced my wife to join the ABN and attend next year's conference. So thanks you for a great day!

I just wanted to thank you for the most fantastic experience on Saturday.

The Online marketing speaker was extraordinary and gave me fantastic ideas. I met several new suppliers whose services I am pretty sure I can use and generally got many other fantastic ideas.

Cheers,
