Valerie Khoo is a journalist, author and entrepreneur who is passionate about the concept that you can design your small business to create the life you really want. She is an expert in online marketing and communication and has used these tools to build thriving businesses in Australia.

In 2005, she founded the Sydney Writers’ Centre Australia’s leading centre for writing training. Since then, it has grown from a one-person operation with a class of only six students to a thriving centre featuring 17 of Australia's leading writing trainers/journalists/authors. Hundreds of students now pass through its doors every week. Valerie has now taken the Centre global with a range of online writing courses. Students enrol from the US, United Kingdom, Italy, The Netherlands, France, Singapore, Hong Kong and many other countries.

Valerie also runs the Online Business Booster Bootcamp - a one-day event for entrepreneurs, consultants, coaches, authors and people who want to learn powerful online marketing strategies. The Bootcamp provides participants with a blueprint to build their profile online and boost their bottom line. Valerie is a sought-after presenter at events and conferences. She has worked with government departments, multinationals and universities. With a Bachelor of Economics (majoring in accounting) and a Graduate Diploma in Communication (journalism, public relations), Valerie began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before joining a national public relations firm. 

She is published regularly in The Sydney Morning Herald, is author of five books and writes for a range of corporate and consumer publications. She is the journalist behind the Enterprise blog of smh.com.au, theage.com.au, brisbanetimes.com.au and watoday.com.au. In 2008, the Sydney Writers’ Centre blog was included in Smart Company’s list of Top 15 Best Business Blogs.
