Kate Skilleter Ergon Energy

As Chief Operating Officer of Ergon Energy's Powerdirect business, Kate Skilleter is responsible for the company's contestable retailing activities including direct sales, trading and customer management activities. Under her leadership, the business has grown to become one of Australia's top five energy retailers. It provides innovative energy solutions and services to a diverse customer base across all levels of the National Electricity Market ranging from domestic and small business customers to large mines and airports.

In 2006, Kate spearheaded the successful $100 million merger of small business retailer Powerdirect into Ergon Energy's retail business. The innovative move has greatly enhanced the national presence of the business and will boost the capability of its contestable operations in preparation for full retail competition in Queensland.

Kate joined Ergon Energy in late 1998 when she pioneered the company's successful energy-trading operations during the early days of the national electricity market. This followed extensive experience in the financial markets including managing Suncorp's $3.5billion domestic cash and bond portfolios and advising the bank on strategic balance-sheet positioning.
