Whether your focus is on your personal or professional development plan, a business plan for your growing business, or if you seek clarity on how big goals are achieved, then there are three key things I'd like you to consider.
The Role of a Business Plan
What role does a business plan play in determining your day to day business activities? Is it an active part of your ongoing focus an annual launching pad?
Personally, I know that writing a to-do list does not get me what I want. Planning a project from the top down (i.e.. from the big picture of what I'm trying to achieve) gets me better results.
When preparing to create a business plan here are some questions to consider:
What am I trying to achieve (and why)?
How will rolling out this plan help me move towards my bigger dreams and gloss?
Who can support this goal? (mentor, staff, friends, advisors)
What actions do I need to take?
What is the timeframe?
What resources do I need?
Do I need more knowledge in order to take any of the actions required?
The lack of knowledge on an area that is important to the achievement of your plan can leave you stuck on that part of the process towards achievement.
When it comes to knowledge and business, the Australian Businesswomen's Network is a great resource for you.
Just take a look at the hundreds of articles on our website, or the MentorNet mentoring program (which has you learn how to put together a business plan, marketing plan, budgets, recruit new staff and set up job descriptions, analyse work loads and allocate these, review your progress and manage your business performance). And, don't go past our monthly webinars each one with an expert presenter and practical tips and information to take your business further.
Women on Boards - An issue for business
Women on Boards. Should companies be forced to comply with quotas in a move towards getting more women on boards?
While we recognise that the number of women on boards does not reflect the make up of women in the workforce and that getting more women in those higher ranks of business is a challenge, recently talks as to whether there should be mandatory quotas of women in boards has been in the news.
As a representative organisation for businesswomen the ABN is keen to get opinions from women in the workplace. So, we've set up this quick poll to get your opinion.
