About Mara Olekalns

Business School
Mara Olekalns is Professor of Management (Negotiation) at the Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne. She is internationally recognised for her research modelling the relationships between communication sequences and outcomes in negotiation. Professor Olekalns’ current research focuses on trust and deception in negotiation. A second research stream explores how gender stereotypes affect women’s negotiations, especially trade-offs between social and economic outcomes.
Professor Olekalns is a past President of the International Association for Conflict Management and currently co-edits the association’s journal, Negotiation and Conflict Management Research. In 2010, she was the Deputy Dean (Academic) of the Melbourne Business School.
