About The Royal Botanic Gardens Foundation
In 2016, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney, will commemorate its Bicentenary. The Gardens has the first scientific institution, is the site of the first farm and is the first botanic garden in Australia; it has enormous history while continuing to address the big issues of today. The Foundation is fundraising for important new initiatives that will grow the capacity of the Gardens to continue its work in conservation, fighting the loss of biodiversity and engaging people with plants. These issues require global and local responses and can only be addressed with philanthropic and community support as we go towards the next 200 years.
