The BRW Rich 200 list was released last week on 25 May, and topping the charts for the first time in its 28-year existence is a woman – Gina Rinehart, mining entrepreneur, richest person in Australia and inspiration to businesswomen everywhere in Australia.
Gina Rinehart has accumulated a $10.3 billion mining fortune and has more than doubled her wealth from $4.75 billion last year. BRW Rich 200 editor Andrew Heathcote says, "This is the first time anyone has cracked $10 billion." It's been a good year for the resources industry!
Frank Lowy, co-founder of the Westfield Group, topped 2010's Rich List at $5.04 billion.
