A Passionate Life!

By Trish Miller

A passionate life - isn't that what we all want? If this is our desire, then why isn't our life overflowing with passion?

The truth is, we don't often ask ourselves 'what is my 'passion'?' Although we often see it in other people - expressing their life-passion in many different ways - it is hard to see it in ourselves.

What is passion?

Passion is 'that deep inner drive that moves us to reach for what we love'.

Why aren't we more passionate?

So why isn't living a passionate life simply a matter of reaching for what we love?

Ask yourself:

  • Have I lost touch with what I love, the things that truly nurture and inspire me?
  • Have I become absorbed in the 'shoulds' and the expectations of the world around me - in career, social life, family and close relationships.
  • Does everything appear to be working perfectly - but I am still confused by the feeling of 'something is missing here'?

So often this missing piece is our essential self's expression. Living true to our passions transforms every aspect of our lives.

One way to tap into your lost passion is with a passion map. The passion mapping process integrates intellectual, emotional and sensory faculties, bringing a deeper sense of self, enhancing clarity and confidence in making life choices, setting and achieving goals. Each passion map is completely unique: bringing with it insights into our own personal work/life balance: freeing up decisive action and allowing movement and purpose.

There are things you can do on your own that can start this process. As a beginning to opening that awareness, relax in a quite place and play with the following:

  1. Remember 5 - 10 values that were most important to you between 6-12yrs of age
  2. Remember things you liked to do, to have, to fantasise about.
  3. Note how your physiology changes when you dwell on each one.
  4. Which ones have the strongest impact?
  5. Identify precisely what elements provide that pleasant impact.
  6. Consider how you express and enjoy those elements today.

"When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy." RUMI

People who know their passions move into a truly intuitive space, bringing clarity, confidence and excitement into their life.
