For the last 18 months we have been asking women “What’s your reason for getting into business?”

We've spent time working one-on-one with business owners to help them clarify their business goals and to gauge their readiness for a mentor.

Here’s what MentorNet's Program Manager, Stella De Zotti found:

"What I have noticed is that many women leave the corporate world, working for someone else, and start their own business for similar reasons. These reasons include:

  • Freedom to choose your hours and work location
  • Working around raising children
  • Being your own boss
  • Setting your own salary
  • Utilising your creativity to create something news
  • And of course - Financial freedom

But the road that follows is not easy…
That's why we have found that women enjoy and get lots of value from taking part in our Are You Mentor-Ready? consultations."

"It was really good for me, as a start-up business, to make sure
I was on the right track."

It made me really think about my business…
What I found most valuable about the consultation is that it made me really think about my business and what direction I want to take it in. By talking about my business I was able to verbalise what is unique about us. I recommend the consultation if you’re unsure about whether the MentorNet program is right for you.

It was good to get answers to the questions that are important to me…
After having a “Are you mentor-ready” consultation it was easy for me to judge if the expectations I had for the MentorNet program would be met. It was good to get answers to the questions that are important to me. Also, I wasn’t sure if I qualified to be on the program. By going through the consultation process I got a chance to put forward a stronger case for me to be accepted as well.

When recently asked successful businesswomen what they wished they’d had earlier to help them accelerate their success – all of them included Mentoring in their choices.

Operating your business with assistance from a Mentor who has experience in his/her own business can only be of benefit to you. We can help put you in touch with a mentor through our mentoring program for women - if you're mentor-ready.
