The MentorNet Mentoring Program for women in business

MentorNet is the Australian Businesswomen's Network's mentoring program for women in business. The program uses up-to-the-minute e-learning technology (including the internet, webinars, blogs and teleconferences) to deliver information, education, networking and mentoring that helps women expand their business skills and create a business plan. MentorNet is delivered over a six-month period. And, you can participate from the comfort of your own home.

A mentor (and the MentorNet program) can help you...

  • increase your confidence as a business owner
  • have more direction and a clear plan for your business
  • get new skills in marketing, business planning, finances, technology, business development and more
  • access the helpful advice and experience of a mentor
  • collaborate with like-minded women who are also growing a business

The next MentorNet program starts June 2010.

"I started my first business in 1994 with no experience but lots of passion. A hobby turned into a business and I had to get serious about what I needed to learn to stay in business and be successful. Mentors have played a big part in my life."

MentorNet Success Stories

What Mentorees Say

I have found a new level of passion for my business.

The Mentornet Program has been an invaluable tool for both my business and my personal growth. With the help of my Mentor and my pod members, I have found a new level of passion for my business and developed clear goals and systems, which give me the direction and tools required to establish growth and success. The on going support and advice is invaluable and the process is fun and rewarding.

Jade Harley - Future Events

I am more focused on what I'm trying to do.

I can't believe I've been in the program for 2 months now. How time flies. I'm really so pleased to be involved in the program - primarily from the perspective that I'm having to look objectively at the business and acknowledge what I have achieved. I feel very positive and optimistic about business and what we are working towards. I'm writing down goals - which I have never done before. I feel that I am also more focussed on what I'm trying to do.

I've been so pleased to be involved with the mentor program. I have found that I'm thinking more critically about the business and assessing everything from a more objective perspective. I'm also gaining a better appreciation of the work I have done and am doing - it's a good pat on the back. The biggest gsain has been in my confidence as a business woman - I feel I can say that I am a business woman and mean it!

Kerrie-Ann Sheppard - Kassan Events

MentorNet is forcing me to spend time work on ON my business, not just IN it.

I'm so glad I'm doing this program. It's forcing me to sit down, STOP and spend time working on my business, instead of in it. The last month has been out-of-control hectic and it's a relief to take some time out, see which direction I'm heading & put myself back on course.

Carissa Linden - Carissa Linden Interior Design

It's challenging me to spend time thinking about my vision and goals.

I really enjoyed our pod session yesterday and I felt re-energised for the work I do in my business and on my business and I feel like a weight has lifted.

Jacqui Manning - Mind Advantage

I felt re-energised for the work I do.

I'm excited by the program so far. I like the way it's challenging me to spend time on really thinking about my vision and goals, and to start breaking down the steps towards achieving them.

Dana Strong - Strong Ideas

It's given me confidence and skills.

The best thing for me this year was doing the MentorNet program. It really assisted me and boosted my business to get it to where it is now. It's given me confidence and skills. The weekly structure of the mentoring sessions and being accountable to the other women in my mentoring pod let me work out where I want to get to and how to get there.

Annalisa Holmes - The Transcription People

I can structure my workload more effectively.

MentorNet has helped me to put the critical issues of business development into perspective. For me, that means I can structure my workload more effectively. Whether or not you have a family, learning to focus on the activities that provide maximum impact is important for all businesswomen.

Denise Hardingham - Renaissance Stained

The biggest benefit for me was having a structure.

The biggest benefit for me was having a structure, a six-month timeline to work towards. I've been planning the growth of my business to a sustainable one.

Domique Antarakis, The Copy Collective

Taking part in MentorNet helped me put mental pictures and snapshots of my business goals onto paper.

Operating a small business, you face very different demands compared to working in a corporate environment. There is not enough time in a day to complete all these tasks. You can feel quite isolated in your own working environment. Taking part in MentorNet helped me put mental pictures and snapshots of my business goals onto paper in the business
planning stage.

Rina Lee, Strategic Feng Shui

I found the interactive environment to be open and nurturing.

The MentorNet program, my mentor, and my pod members all helped me overcome my initial challenges. I found the interactive environment to be open and nurturing, which grew my business confidence as well as my business network. It's like having a personal trainer for your business.

Sarah Ladyman, Relish This

It helped me to get more confidence.

I was a little naive and inexperienced in business so decided to join the MentorNet program. It helped me to get more confidence.

Sheryl Cole, Two Spoonfuls of Sugar

MentorNet provided a time effective and convenient learning environment.

You will make mistakes in business, but it helps to have someone who understands and has experience to help you minimise the mistakes, help you move ahead faster, and survive the tough times. MentorNet not only provided a time effective and convenient learning environment, it also provided templates, tools, resources, expertise, a community, and a mentor.

Simone Novello, Novello Vantage Point

What Mentors Say

I offered my services because of its use of leading-edge technology.

ABN has conducted Mentoring programs in the past and I have participated as both a Mentoree initially and later as a Mentor. I gained enormous benefit from both roles. As a Mentor, I enjoy the satisfaction of helping a (usually) young person "find their feet" and help them grow and develop as business owners. All the women I have mentored have appreciated having an objective person who they can use as a confidential sounding board and who understand what it's like to start a new business.

I offered my services for this ABN Program because of its use of leading edge technology and innovative processes for delivering the content of the Program. I believe this technology is the way of the future and will provide many more women (and men for that matter) the opportunity to participate in this valuable learning experience.

Linda McDonald - Corporate Learning

Rachel Pickworth
I gain immense satisfaction from providing encouragement to my mentorees.

I've been involved in mentoring for over ten years now and can highly recommend it on both a personal and professional level. As a mentor, I gain immense satisfaction from providing encouragement to my mentorees; and from watching them grow in confidence and expertise as they achieve things they never thought possible in all aspects of their life.

Susan McGrath - META Australia and New Zealand

The individual and shared insights facilitated by the Mentors are invaluable.

The feedback I get from Mentorees is that the program content is valuable whereas the individual and shared insights facilitated by the Mentors are invaluable. The sharing of ideas and experiences will really fast track your growth as an entrepreneur.

Dennis Roberts - The Coaching Professionals

I've grown and learned so much.

I've enjoyed the journey of being a mentor. MentorNet is the most phenomenal thing the ABN can do for women in startup phase and to keep you on track. I've grown and learned so much.

Heidi Dening - Jump Start Outdoor

It's a total resource.

I love being an expert presenter on the MentorNet program. I think women in business really need a resource and support when they start business. What' I've found is that with the ABN whatever I'm looking for I can find. It's a total resource.

Karen Houghton - Money Pennys
